History of James A Teague Rental Equipment, LLC

In January of 1948 the late James "Nub" Teague established an equipment rental business in Baton Rouge to provide a greatly needed specialized service for the city's construction industry. Teague initiated his rental operation with only one winch truck.

As Teague acquired additional pieces of equipment and the business began to expand, he purchased a house and leased acreage on Harding Boulevard from which be built the crane rental operation and grew to become one of the area's most successful. From this location Teague serviced Louisiana with one of the largest fleet of cranes and concrete pumps in the state. In 1980 he purchased land on Plank Road just around the corner from the Harding Blvd. location and subsequently built the office and shop where they are today.

The machinery of Teague Rental Equipment is a familiar site throughout the Baton Rouge area and surrounding areas as the equipment is used quite extensively and in the number of unique projects. In January 1980, Teague's concrete pumps were responsible for the largest single continuous concrete pour in the history of Louisiana - nearly 7,000 cubic yards of concrete at Gulf States Utilities Company's River Bend Nuclear Power Plant (reactor base).

After the death of James in 1975, Teague's wife Martha became the majority owner of Teague Rental Equipment as vice president. Their only son James W. Teague became President. In 1987 their general manager began acquiring a minority stock interest in the company. In November of 1993 he acquired the remaining interest in Teague effectively ending the involvement of the Teagues.

Upon his retirement in August of 2007, having been with the company since 1982, Ben Gioele purchased the company.

As the need for concrete pumping services grew we began to focus exclusively on the pumping industry. In March of 2012 we sold the last crane, which ended our crane service department. In May of 2012 we acquired our largest boom pump, and now have a fleet of 10 pumps.

Today we employ 10 concrete pump operators with over 150 years of experience combined. We operate all Schwing pumps and a certified Schwing boom inspector inspects the booms annually.

Teague has always endeavored to be a leader in its field and pledges to continue to best serve the commercial and industrial service and equipment needs in the future.
